Simulation in addressing the problem of inappropriate and disrespectful assistance in childbirth hospitals

Abstract

Inadequate or disrespectful medical care during childbirth is a serious problem that can significantly negatively affect the life and health of mother and child. Following a discussion of the view of the problem from domestic and foreign specialists, arguments are given in favor of conducting simulation education that can influence the causes of inadequate or disrespectful medical care during childbirth and improve the situation. This could include classes on developing professional communication skills, empathy and perception, training in technical competencies and team interaction, and discussion of the ethical aspects of obstetric practice. Simulation training can promote a culture of safety, respect, and empathy in obstetric practice, reducing the risks of obstetric aggression and inappropriate or disrespectful care in the perinatal period.
