Kubyshkin Valery Alekseevich

Surgeon, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, doctor of medical sciences, professor, from 2011 to 2016 — director of A.V. Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery.

Biography

Born May 25, 1944.

In 1968 he graduated from N. I. Pirogov 2nd Moscow Order of Lenin State Medical Institute (Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University - nowadays). He was admitted to the clinical residency, and then to the Graduate School of the Department of Faculty Surgery. His mentor and teacher was Professor, and later Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and the Russian Academy of Sciences V. S. Savelyev.

Since 1971 - Assistant, since 1983 - Associate Professor, since 1988 - Professor of the Department of Faculty Surgery.

In 1973, he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic "Treatment of Acute Appendicitis and Appendicular Peritonitis."

In 1985, he defended his Doctoral dissertation on the topic “Pancreatic necrosis. Diagnosis and treatment".

In 1989, V. A. Kubyshkin was awarded the title of laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation for his contribution to solving the problems of surgery for purulent peritonitis and pancreatic necrosis.

Since 1991, Professor V. A. Kubyshkin has headed a large division of the A. V. Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery — Department of Abdominal Surgery.

V. A. Kubyshkin pays great attention to the study and development of modern surgical technologies and instrumental techniques. Under his leadership, anti-reflux operations on the stomach were introduced, the tactics of organ-preserving and reconstructive interventions for duodenal ulcer were substantiated.

In 1998, based on the experience of the team, he published the monograph "Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease". The monograph drew attention of domestic researchers and practitioners to this problem.

Since 2000, V. A. Kubyshkin has been a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (RAMS). Also, V. A. Kubyshkin is a Vice-President of the Russian Branch of the International Association of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgeons, Deputy Chairman of the Problematic Commission for Abdominal Surgery of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Scientific Secretary of the Section of the Commission of the President of the Russian Federation on State Prizes in Science and Technology, National Representative, Member of the Board of the Russian Association endoscopic surgeons, headed the Surgical Society of Moscow and the Moscow Region for several years.

In 2002, he received an award from the Government of the Russian Federation for the development of unique technologies for the treatment of patients with malignant neoplasms of the liver and hepatic ducts.

In 2003, he was a Deputy Director for Research at A. V. Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery. In the same year, he published 2 monographs: "Pancreatic Cancer" and "Liver Operations". The merits of V. A. Kubyshkin to domestic medicine were awarded the Order of Honor.

From 2007 to 2011, V. A. Kubyshkin headed the Department of General Surgery of A.I. Yevdokimov Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry.

From 2011 to 2015, V. A. Kubyshkin — Head of the Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine in M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University.

In 2011, he was appointed a director of the “A. V. Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery", in the same year he was elected a full member (academician) of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (RAMS).

Since 2013, he has been the chief freelance surgeon of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

Professional Scientific Activity

Clinical specialization: liver and pancreas surgery, laparoscopic surgery, abdominal surgery. Professor V. A. Kubyshkin is one of the leading specialists in the field of abdominal surgery and, in particular, surgical pancreatology. The work of Valery Alekseevich in this direction laid the foundation for diagnostic and therapeutic tactics. V. A. Kubyshkin is one of those who contributed to the formation and development of endoscopic surgery in our country. Through his work, minimally invasive abdominal surgery has become a daily practice, and he is a recognized specialist in the surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease. He was one of the first to substantiate the modern principles of diagnostics, indications and techniques of laparoscopic interventions on the esophageal-gastric junction and diaphragm.

He is the author of 7 monographs, 6 chapters in national surgical guidelines and more than 300 scientific articles. Under the guidance of V. A. Kubyshkin, 12 doctoral and 18 master's theses were completed. Chief editor and member of the editorial boards of a number of reputable medical journals - "Surgery", "Endoscopic Surgery", "Annals of Surgical Hepatology", "Creative Surgery and Oncology".
