Abstract

In the Russian Federation various student Olympiads, skill competitions among specialists and other similar events are quite common. What are their goals and results, can the same be achieved differently, what are the pros and cons. Quite often these events are built exclusively on competitive conditions, which leads to undeserved victories for some and defeats for others, a shift in emphasis to external incentives, unnecessary separation of groups, and sometimes alienation and rejection of processes instead of attracting attention and development.
