Author Guidelines

Rules for Authors of the Journal “Virtual Technologies in Medicine” of the all-Russian public organization "Russian Society of Simulation Training in Medicine".

1. Only original, previously unpublished works may be submitted for publication in the journal. The publication of materials published in any other places, including electronic ones, as well as the provision of materials for placement in parallel in several publications is not allowed.
2. The materials for publication should be sent to the address of the Executive Editor of the journal Gorshkov Maxim (gorshkov@rosomed.ru) or through forms of electronic publication on the websites of the magazine (medsim.ru) and the ROSOMED society (rosomed.ru).
3. Maximum amount of materials:
  • for abstracts - abstract up to 600 characters, text up to 6,000 characters with spaces;
  • for researches and original articles - abstract up to 1,000 characters, text 25,000 characters with spaces;
  • for review works - abstract up to 1,000 characters, text up to 35,000 characters with spaces.
4. All materials provided must contain:
  • the title (the first letter is uppercase, the rest are lowercase, no more than 100 characters with spaces)
  • information about the lead author (when sending material via electronic form, they are automatically substituted from the profile):
    • surname, name, patronymic (in full);
    • identification numbers, if any: SPIN code; ORCID, ResecherID, Scopus Author ID; RSCI Author ID;
    • academic degree (candidate of sciences, doctor of sciences), academic title (associate professor, professor), position (manager, director, etc.);
    • place of work: an indication of the legal form of the institution or organization (GBOU, FSBI, etc.) and the full name;
    • contact phone for work issues;
    • email address (published in the journal).
    • information about co-authors (no more than five):
      • surname, initials;
      • place of work (when sending material via electronic form, they are automatically substituted from the profile).
      •  the article should include any actual or potential conflict of interest. If there is no conflict of interest, you should write that "the author declares no conflict of interest."
5. Original articles should have the following structure:
  • the title of the article (in Russian, the first letter is uppercase, the rest are lowercase, not more than 100 characters with spaces);
  • translation of the title of the article into English (preferably);
  • abstract of the article - Summary (in Russian, up to 600 characters with spaces: briefly describes the goals, design, materials and methods, results, conclusions);
  • translation of the abstract of the article into English (preferably);
  • keywords in Russian, lowercase, separated by commas;
  • translation of keywords into English;
  • the purpose of the study;
  • materials and research methods (including information about the organization where it was conducted, duration, selection of participants, inclusion and exclusion criteria, measurement methods and statistical data processing, manufacturer and brand of simulation and medical equipment;
  • results of work;
  • discussion;
  • conclusion.

6. Requirements for illustrations and tables. The text of the article should contain links to illustrations and tables, which should be numbered and have names. Non-copyright illustrations must be linked to the source. Illustrations should be provided (uploaded) as separate files, have good quality and high resolution (300 dpi).

7. Bibliographic lists are compiled in accordance with GOST, not more than 50 items, preferably the last 5 years. Sources are listed alphabetically, first in Russian, then in foreign languages. The texts of articles should contain numbered references to literary sources in square brackets.

8. Reviewing. Materials submitted to the editor are subject to mandatory blind peer review. Authors are notified of peer review results. Reviews are mandatory upon request of expert councils at the Higher Attestation Commission.

9. Copyright. The fact of sending a work to the editorial office is an order to the editorial board to publish it in print and online versions of the journal. Presenting the work, the author agrees that if it is accepted for publication, the copyright will be transferred to the publisher and the editorial board will have exclusive property rights to use the manuscript, including copyright photographs, drawings, diagrams, tables and others protected copyright objects in its composition. The author transfers the indicated rights to the editors without limiting their validity period, in the territory of all countries of the world. The moment of transfer of copyright is the date of signing the journal issue in print. The editors are not responsible to third parties for information in copyright materials and the actions of the author in relation to third parties. Reprinting of materials published in the journal by third parties is possible only with the written consent of the publisher, with a mandatory link to the source (issue and volume of the journal, DOI). Authors are not charged for publishing materials.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.
  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).
  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.

 

Copyright Notice

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
  2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
  3. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).

 

Privacy Statement

Specified when registering the names and addresses will be used solely for technical purposes of a contact with the Author or reviewers (editors) when preparing the article for publication. Private data will not be shared with other individuals and organizations.
